The impressing building of the New Acropolis Museum, consisting of glass, concrete and steel, has been designed by the Swiss American architect Bernard Tschumi. Recently excavated, the ancient market place of Athens is covered only by a glass floor and leads its visitors into the museum, where one is expected by its treasures dating back over 2500 years.
The first floor presents sculptures, vases and other valuables which are freely exposed and create an impression and atmosphere like participating on the ancient past. The extraordinary top floor exhibits the remained sculptures of the Parthenon which had been transferred years ago to the British Museum.
